1. Obey pre ca ution a ry ma rkings a nd
instru c tions
Labe l s and stamps on the cabinet, chassis, and
components identif y areas requiring specia l pre-
cautions. Be sure to observe these precautions,
as we
ll as a ll precautions l isted in the operating
manua l and other associated documents.
2. Use design a ted p a rts only
The set’s components possess important safet y
characteristics, such as noncombustibi l it y and
the abi l it y to to l erate l arge vo l tages. Be sure that
rep l acement parts possess the same safet y charac-
teristics as the origina l s. A l so remember that the
mark, which appears in circuit diagrams and
parts l ists, denotes components that have particu-
l ar ly important safet y functions; be extra sure to
use on ly the designated components.
3 . Alw a ys follow the origin a l design
when m ounting p a rts a nd routing
wires
The origina l l a y out inc l udes various safet y fea-
tures, such as inc l usion of insu l ating materia l s
(tubes and tape) and the mounting of parts above
the printer board. In addition, interna
l wiring has
been routed and c l amped so as to keep it awa y
from hot or high-vo l tage parts. When mounting
parts or routing wires, therefore, be sure to du-

l icate the origina l l a y out.
4. Inspe c t a fter c o m pleting ser v i c e
After servicing, inspect to make sure that a ll
screws, components, and wiring have been
returned to their origina
l condition. A l so check
the area around the repair l ocation to ensure that
repair work has caused no damage, and confi rm
safet
y .
5. When repl ac ing c hip c o m ponents...
Never reuse components. A l so remember that
the negative side of tanta l um capacitors is easi ly
damaged b y heat.

The temperature of the so l dering-iron tip

Do not app ly the tip more than three times to
the same pattern.
