Chapter 8 SCSI Commands
8.6.1.2. Changeable values
When the PC field is 01b, the autoloader returns a mask indicating changeable
Mode Parameters. In this mask, Mode Parameter changeable fields are all 1 and
the Mode Parameter unchangeable fields are all 0.
Note
A request to change an unchangeable Mode Parameter with the MODE
SELECT command results in an error. The recommended procedure is for the
host to set the PC field to 01b, set the Page Code field to 3Fh, issue a MODE
SENSE command, and then check the supported Mode Pages, the changeable
Mode Parameters within the Mode Page, and the Mode Page lengths before
issuing the Mode SELECT command.
8.6.1.3. Default values
When the PC field is 10b, the autoloader default values are returned. The Mode
Parameters not supported by the autoloader are 0.
8.6.1.4. Saved values
When the PC field is 11b, the autoloader returns the values saved in non-volatile
memory. The Mode Parameters not supported by the autoloader are 0.
8.6.1.5. Initial responses
Immediately after powering on or a hard reset, the autoloader performs the
following processing.
a) If a default value is requested, the default Mode Parameter value is returned.
b) If a saved value is requested, a valid saved Mode Parameter value is returned.
If the attempt to read the requested Mode Parameter value from non-volatile
memory is unsuccessful, the command is terminated with a CHECK
CONDITION status. The sense key is NOT READY.
c) When the current value is requested, the current value held by the autoloader
is returned.
8.6.2. The Mode Page Code
The Mode Page Codes supported by the autoloader are defined in Table 8.6.2.1 .
Table 8.6.2.1 : Mode page codes
The host requests all or part of the supported Mode Pages from the autoloader.
If a MODE SENSE command is issued with a Page Code not supported by the
autoloader set, the autoloader terminates the command with a CHECK
CONDITION status. The sense key is ILLEGAL REQUEST and ASC/ASCQ
is INVALID FIELD IN CDB.
