Recording onto a tape

(Except for Latin American and 
Mexican models)

There are three ways to record on a 
TYPE I (normal) tape.

CD-TAPE Synchro Recording:

You can record an entire disc onto a tape.

Manual Recording:

You can record just the portion you want 
from a sound source, including connected 
audio components.

Sound Mixing:

You can “mix” sound from any of the 
sound sources and singing or speaking 
into a microphone (not supplied). The 
mixed sound can be recorded onto a tape.

Load a recordable tape into the
tape deck.

Be sure to load the tape with the side 
you want to record facing upward.

Prepare the recording source.

For CD-TAPE Synchro Recording:

Press CD and load the disc you want to 
record on the disc tray. When the disc 
starts playback automatically, press 

x 

to cancel the playback.
• To record a folder of MP3 files, press 

PLAY MODE on the remote 
repeatedly until “

” lights up in the 

display. Then, press 

 +/– 

repeatedly to select the folder you 
want.

• You can record tracks or files on all 

the discs in the order you want using 
Program Play. Perform steps 2 to 6 of 
“Creating your own program” 
(page 36). When programming, 
make sure the playing times do not 
exceed the length of one side of the 
tape.

For Manual Recording and Sound 
Mixing:

Press the function button (except 
TAPE) to select the source you want to 
record.
When recording from a disc, press 

N 

to start playback.
If you want to record your voice 
through the microphone only, you can 
do so by selecting the PC function and 
not playing the source.

Set tape deck to stand by for 
recording.

For CD-TAPE Synchro Recording:

Press REC TO TAPE.
“TAPE” and “SYNC” light up and 
“REC” flashes in the display.
“Push ENTER” appears in the display.

For Manual Recording and Sound 
Mixing:

Press REC TO TAPE.
“TAPE” lights up and “REC” flashes 
in the display. “Push ENTER” appears 
in the display.

Start recording.

While recording, you cannot listen to 
other sources.

For CD-TAPE Synchro Recording:

Press ENTER. When the recording is 
completed, the disc and the tape stop 
automatically.
