Tape Deck
The tape does not record.
• The tab has been removed from the tape. Cover
the broken tab with adhesive tape.
• The tape has reeled to the end.
The tape does not record nor play or there is a
decrease in sound level.
• The tape heads are dirty. (See “Cleaning the tape
heads” on page 34).
• The record/playback heads are magnetized. (See
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 34).
The tape does not erase completely.
• The record/playback heads are magnetized. (See
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 34).
There is excessive wow or flutter, or the sound
drops out.
• The capstans or pinch rollers are dirty. (See
“Cleaning the tape heads” on page 34).
Noise increases or the high frequencies are erased.
• The record/playback heads are magnetized. (See
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 34).
Tuner
There is severe hum or noise (“TUNED” or
“STEREO” flashes in the display).
• Adjust the antenna.
• The signal is too weak. Connect an external
antenna.
• Set “CD POWER OFF” by CD power manage
function (page 15).
A stereo FM program cannot be received in
stereo.
• Press FM MODE so that “MONO” disappears.
If the system still does not operate
properly after performing the above
measures, reset the system as
follows:

Unplug the power cord.

Plug the power cord back in.

at the same
time.

to turn on the system.
The system is reset to factory settings. All the
settings are cleared.
Messages
One of the following messages may appear or
flash in the display during operation.
CD
Cannot Edit
• You pressed EDIT before disc is ready.
• You have programmed a disc with MP3 audio
tracks.
NO STEP
• You have cleared all the tracks you programmed.
OVER
• You have reached the end of the disc while
pressing
M
during playback or pause.
No Disc
• There is no disc on the disc tray.
Push STOP!
• You pressed PLAY MODE during playback.
Step Full!
• You tried to program 26 or more tracks (steps).
TAPE
No Tab
• You cannot record the tape because the tab has
been removed from the tape.
No Tape
• There is no tape in the tape deck.
