INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing Sonance Symphony S622C Cabinet speakers.
When properly installed, these speakers will bring out the best in all your
entertainment, delivering film soundtracks with power and accuracy
and reproducing music with outstanding clarity and realism.

To get the most out of your new speakers, please read this manual
thoroughly before you begin installation.

PARTS LIST

Each Sonance Symphony S622C Cabinet Speaker includes the following:

• (2) Symphony S622C Cabinet speaker

• (2) Cloth grilles

• (8) Self-adhesive rubber feet

ATTACHING THE RUBBER FEET

Peel the adhesive backing from the rubber feet and place them on the
bottom of the speaker as shown in Illustration 1. The feet should be
placed approximately 1” from the cabinet edges.

Note:  The Symphony S622C Cabinet speaker is designed only for vertical
placement. Laying the speaker on its side will compromise performance.

CONNECTING THE SPEAKER

Run the appropriate gauge
wire from your amplifier
to the speaker locations.
See

Wire Gauge

for the

suggested wire gauge for
different wire lengths.

Connect the speaker wires
to the terminals on the
backs of the speakers. (See

Illustration 2

.)

Make sure that the speaker
wire polarity is correct:
Speaker ‘+’ to amplifier ‘+’
and speaker ‘–’ to amplifi-
er ‘–’. Proper polarity is
particularly critical to
good speaker performance in home theater installations.

WIRE GAUGE

Extra resistance in the speaker wire can make a speaker sound less
dynamic and reduce definition of the bass frequencies. In extreme cases,
it can even attenuate high frequencies. Also, amplifier power is wasted in
wire with extra resistance, reducing your system’s maximum output level.

To prevent degrading sound quality, the total wire resistance should be
less than 10% of the speaker’s impedance. This means that for 8-ohm
speakers like the Symphony S622C Cabinet Speaker, the total resistance
of the wire should be less than 0.8 ohms. Refer to the following table
when selecting the proper wire gauge for your system:

SPEAKER PLACEMENT

Placing the Left & Right Speakers

• Place the left & right channel speakers on either side of the video

screen, anywhere from 6 feet to 10 feet apart and  3 – 4 feet from the
floor (which corresponds to the height of your ears when you’re seated
on a couch or chair). Use

Illustration 3

as a guide.

• If you’re placing the speakers inside of an entertainment center or other

furniture, make sure that the speaker’s front edges are even with the
front edges of the furniture.

• The main listening position should be between 8 and 12 feet away from

the speakers.

Important: The Symphony S622C Cabinet Speaker is not video-
shielded, and may cause picture discoloration if placed within 12
inches of a conventional (CRT) television. If discoloration occurs,
move the speaker away from the TV until the discoloration
disappears.

Placing the Center Channel Speaker

• Locate the center speaker as close to the same height as the left & right

speakers as possible. This will maintain consistent tonality between all
3 speakers.
