If the detector is placed in a dirty location, you must clean it more frequently.
Maintaining your detector is important for maintaining your safety. A dirty smoke detector
may either give a false alarm or give a true alarm late.
In case of not justified and repeated alarms, prove that contraindications of §4 are respected.
Sound alarm can be stopped by removing the battery (see §5). After having taken off the detector
of its base; clean it, connect the battery and replace the detector on its base.
9. LIMITS OF THE SMOKE DETECTOR AND WARNING DEVICE
The smoke detector and warning device is an inexpensive apparatus that provides a fast warning on the
start of a fire. Nevertheless, fire can start at home in various ways and it is often unpredictable. In certain
cases, the smoke detector and warning device will be unable to provide warning of a fire:
– If battery is low or of the wrong type (see section 6).
– If the electronic circuitry is defective. It must be checked as outlined in section 7.
– If no maintenance is performed (see section 8).
– If recommendations for placing the detector are not respected (see recommendations in section 4).
– If the smoke does not reach the detector. The smoke detector and warning device cannot sense
smoke from a fire on another floor or on the other side of a door.
– If it is too far. Although it has a very powerful, the smoke detector and warning device may not wake
someone from deep sleep. For maximum protection, it is recommended that you place one detector
in each bedroom.
DF-Somfy helps save lives, but does not eliminate the need for you to take out insurance to
protect people and property.
Lifetime of the detector is 10 years if placed in a clean dry ambiance.
10. 5-YEAR WARRANTY
SOMFY provides each purchaser of a
DF-Somfy
detector with a
5-year
warranty (excluding the battery)
against any manufacturing defect running from its date of purchase onward.
In case of any question, please contact the Somfy local subsidiary.
This warranty does not apply to
DF-Somfy
detectors that have been damaged, modified, misused or
poorly maintained.
