4.4
Measure Antenna Height
The antenna height is also known as the Height of Instrument
(HI).
To measure the HI, perform these steps:
1.
Choose a measurement method:

Slant height
—see Section 4.4.1,
•
Vertical height
—see Section 4.4.2,
•
True vertical height
—see Section 4.4.2,

Measure the distance between the antenna and the ground.
3.
Record your measurements in your field book or software.

Slant height method
Typically, the slant height measuring method is used when you
are using a tripod during static surveys or establishing a base
station.
NOTE

Accurately measuring and recording the antenna height is of critical
importance. Failure to accurately measure the height of the antenna
from the initial known location will result in a three-dimensional error in
position.
