STEP 2: Install the Software (OPTIONAL)
Note: The software comes pre-installed on the Socket SoMo 650 handheld
computer.
Should I install the software?
The 56K Modem Card comes with software for Windows Mobile that is
optional to install in most cases. The software enhances your connection
experience by offering the following features:

Connection Setup — This wizard guides you effortlessly through the
process of setting up a dial-up connection to your ISP.

Modem Utilities — This software allows you to take advantage of the
v.92 features Quick Connect and Modem-on-Hold, adjust the sound
volume of the modem’s internal speaker, and set up the modem for use
in different countries.
Some devices do not have built-in modem drivers and require
software installation. Check your device manual for information.
If you are using the SoMo, the modem software is pre-loaded on the device,
and software installation is not required.
If you do not want to install the software, go ahead and insert the card into
your device. Skip Steps 3-4 and refer to Appendix D to manually set up a
dial-up connection using your device’s built-in connection software.
