Prolonging Battery Pack Life
6.3 Prolonging Battery Pack Life
To maximize the life expectancy of your battery pack when your MODIS™ unit is not being used,
do one of the following:
•
Connect the AC/DC power supply, power on your MODIS™ unit, and activate the battery
charger to maintain the battery charge.
•
Power off your MODIS™ unit and then remove the battery pack.
6.4 Replacing the Battery Pack
When your battery pack no longer holds a charge, call your Sales Representative to order a new
one to replace it.
IMPORTANT:
Dispose of the old battery according to local regulations.
In North America, contact the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) at
1(800) 822-8837, or refer to their web site at http://www.rbrc.org for the nearest recycling location
and instructions for proper battery disposal.

To replace the battery pack:
1.
Remove the old battery pack (Figure 6-2).

Insert the new battery pack into the designated slot.
3.
Charge the new battery. Refer to “Charge Battery” on page 46 for details.
4.
Dispose of the old battery according to local regulations.
6.5 5-Amp Fuse
The MODIS™ unit uses one 5-amp automotive fuse to protect the internal circuitry. The fuse is
located next to the battery pack on the bottom of the unit (Figure 6-3).
