Bearing Installation

5.9   Bearing Installation

1. 

Remove the existing bearing and thoroughly 
clean the bearing boss and all surrounding 
areas, removing all grease and debris.

2. 

Check the dimensions of the bearing boss bore 
in several locations. If the bore is damaged or 
out of the specifications, repair the bearing boss 
before installing a new bearing. Refer to the 
chart below.

IMPORTANT

Do not use grease for bearing or pin installation.

Do not use a pin with a grease zerk with a 
maintenance free type bearing.

3. 

Identify the split line in the outer race of the 
bearing. Refer to 

Figure 122 

to install the bearing 

in the correct orientation.

4. 

To install the bearings, use a bearing driver or 
a press that fully contacts the outer race of the 
bearing.
