Important safety warnings:
The system power supply must be provided with an appropriately
positioned, clearly labelled full pole isolator or switch that can be used to isolate
and lock-out power from the IMx unit during installation, maintenance or
modification work. The switch must be labelled with an appropriate name, with
clear identification of which IMx if multiple units are deployed. The On/Off
position must be clearly marked.
The supply scheme should also incorporate suitable fusing or circuit breakers.
To prevent a hazardous event, power cable return and positive wires must
be secured together with a cable tie (for example, a nylon cable tie CV-100K)
close to the power connections, at the IMx.
Figure 5
Example of securing positive and return wires with a cable tie
To connect the IMx to the DC power supply, use cable of the following
standard or better:
FKLK 3 x 1.5 mm
2
(16 AWG) or EKLK 3 x 1.5 mm
2
(16 AWG) or corresponding,
with minimum voltage requirement 300 V and temperature range of −40 to
+70 °
C (−40 to +158 °F).
The power supply cable must be properly fixed to prevent strain, twist or
movement. Always use an appropriate cable gland at entry to any outer
enclosure and cable trunking or similar within it.
