BATTERIES:

The DC Power source on your

38SB

 is

from batteries. There are three banks of
batteries. The three banks of batteries are
the Starboard, Port and Generator batter-
ies. The Port and Starboard Battery Banks
are in the Engine Room. The Generator
Battery is aft of the Engine Room, under
the cockpit. The quantity of each bank
depends on the options. All batteries are
12 volt.

NEGATIVE GROUND SYSTEM

The negative terminal of each battery is
attached to a grounding stud on each en-
gine. This is known as a “negative ground
system” and is the approved system for
marine DC electrical systems. The battery
wiring system has two color-coded wires.
The yellow wire is the ground (negative)
wire and the red wire is the positive (“hot”)
wire.

The DC Power from each battery Bank
goes to different locations:
Starboard Battery Bank -
---Supplies power to the right Battery
Switch in the Salon.
---Supplies power to the Windlass.
---Supplies power to the Engine Control
Breaker.
Port Battery Bank -
---Supplies power to the left Battery Switch
in the Salon.

---Supplies power to the breaker between
the Battery Switches in the Salon.
---Supplies power to the Engine Control
Breaker.

BATTERY SWITCHES:

Below the Electrical Panel in the Salon,
you will

fi

 nd three switches:

Starboard Battery Switch - The Starboard
Battery Switch is on the right hand side.
Port Battery Switch - The Port battery
Switch is on the left hand side.
Auto/Bilge Switch - The Auto Bilge Switch
is between the two Battery Switches.

Starboard Battery Switch - The Starboard
Battery Switch gets its’ power from the
Starboard Battery Bank. The power goes
from the Starboard Battery Switch to the
following  locations:
---Starboard Engine Starter.
---Key Switch for the Starboard Engine.
---”Main Battery 2” breaker on the DC
Electrical Panel.
---”Electronics Main” breaker on the DC
Electrical Panel.

Port Battery Switch - The Port Battery
Switch gets its’ power from the Port Bat-
tery Bank. The power goes from this
switch to the following locations:
---Port Engine Starter
---Key Switch for the Port Engine.
---”Main Battery 1” breaker on the DC
Electrical Panel.
---”Flybridge Electric” breaker on the DC
Electrical Panel.
