2: Installation of Customer Replaceable Components

Removing and Installing a 3.5-inch Drive in the Front-Access Drive Cage

The following instructions describe how to remove 3.5-inch drives from the front-access
drive cage:

Remove the side panel and the bezel as described in “Pre-installation Instructions”
on page 16.

2. Disconnect all cables from the rear of the drive to be removed.

3. To remove the 3.5-inch drive from a drive bay, press the drive rail plastic release tabs

on both sides of the drive and pull the drive out of the chassis. Figure 2-6 illustrates
the procedure.

4. To remove a drive rail from the drive, pull the rail away from the drive by lifting one

end of the rail.
