Viewing Cost Values (COST)
Use the COST command to view total cost values for the message paths between a node and the TLX,
FPX, and/or FLNXs. A cost value of 1 is the lowest and best value; although cost values of 5 can still
indicate good communication. Generally, the higher the cost value, the more likely there will be wireless
communication errors.
Cost values are affected by the following:
•
Number of hops involved in communications with another device
—A cost value shown by the
TLX reflects the sum of the costs associated with each hop in the message path.
•
Reliability of communication in each hop
—Greater reliability results in lower cost values.
Figure 7 shows an example of cost values for two FLNXs that communicate with an FPX.
