Before you begin:
Before You Install your Powerline Adapter, Plan the Installation
of Your Powerline Network
NOTE: You will need at least two powerline adapters to create a network connection.
1.
To connect two computers together in an isolated home network you will need the following:
• A SpeedStream 2502 Powerline-to-Ethernet adapter for each PC with an available Ethernet port.
OR
• A SpeedStream 2501 Powerline-to-USB adapter for each PC (or other device) with an available
USB port
2.
To share a cable or DSL connection between PCs in different rooms you will need one of the following
setups:
• Cable/DSL modem
• Powerline Router
OR
• Cable/DSL modem
• Broadband sharing router (e.g. SpeedStream 2624 Wireless Router)
• SpeedStream 2502 Powerline-to-Ethernet adapter connected to the broadband sharing router.
• SpeedStream Powerline-to-Ethernet/USB adapter for each PC (or other device) you want to share the
broadband connection

Requirements:
• Available Ethernet port
• CD-ROM Drive
• Computer running Windows 98‚ Second Edition (SE), Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
• A PC running Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
• CD or diskettes for Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
• Another HomePlug 1.0 compliant powerline adapter
NOTE: Software installation is not always required, but is highly recommended. If connecting a non-PC based device you may
proceed to step 2.
1.
Insert the SpeedStream 2502 Utility CD-ROM into the computer’s CD-ROM drive.
2.
The installation program will start automatically (if it does not, click the
START
button and choose
RUN
. In the window that appears, enter
d:/SETUP.exe
)
3.
Follow the instructions in the installation.
When prompted by the installation utility, do the following:
1.
Plug the SpeedStream Ethernet to Powerline adapter into an AC outlet
2.
Plug the supplied Ethernet cable into the Speedstream Ethernet to Powerline adapter
3.
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an available Ethernet port on your PC, or to a
network device.
