PoE Ports
The RUGGEDCOM RST2228P supports up to twenty-four 10/100/1000 Mbps Power
over Ethernet (PoE) ports powered by an external power supply. Each port complies
with the IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards and features auto-sensing and au-
tomatic power off when cables are removed.
The total allowable power budget for all ports is 500 W. If the external power sup-
ply is less than ther PoE power demand, to prevent exceeding the power budget,
port priorities can be set via the RUGGEDCOM RST2228P operating system to disable
low priority ports when demand is too high. Ports can also be enabled/disabled and
placed on a power schedule to conserve power. For more information, refer to the
