3.5.1.2 Connecting signal lines
For MCS300P Ex category 2G: Observe information on connecting the Ex interface relays
( see “Connecting Ex peripherals (for MCS300P Ex category 3G)”, page 29 ).

Use signal cables with a shielding.
▸
Route each signal cable through a cable gland ( see Figure 12, page 30 ).
▸
Establish a safe contact between the shield of the signal cable and the cable gland ( see
Fig. 9 ).

Connect the signal lines to the I/O modules (terminal assignment → System
Documentation provided).

Information on the I/O modules → Operating Instructions “Modular I/O System”.
1 Push the screw cap and the
clamp sleeve of the cable
gland on the signal cable.
2 Uncover and shorten the
shield of the signal cable.
3 Push the shielding braid
backwards over the clamp
sleeve. Make sure the shield-
ing braid overlaps the seal-
ing ring of the clamp sleeve
(
≈ 2 mm).
4 Insert signal cable + clamp
sleeve in the cable gland.
5 Screw the cable gland gas-
tight (
see page 25 ).
