IDM Set Up Tool

The IDM Set Up Tool is a Windows based configuration software for IDM scanners. The IDM Set Up Software
is available free of charge on www.mysick.com.

4.1

Configuration via IDM Set Up Tool

The following steps describe how to configure an IDM Scanner via the IDM Set Up Tool.

4.1.1

IDM Corded Scanners

1.

Connect the scanner to the PC via RS-232 or USB Com

2.

Start the IDM Set Up Tool Software.

3.

Scan the IDM Set Up Tool (Host Link) Code:

You can either:

upload the current configuration from the scanner:

or

•

open a new configuration:



5.

Do your settings via the IDM Set Up Tool.

6.

By clicking on the “Apply”-button the download section opens. Scan the IDM Set Up (Host Link) Code
again and choose the correct Com Port.

7.

Click on the download button to start the download. Your settings will be downloaded to the scanner.
After a successful download you can close the IDM Set Up Tool.

4.1.2

IDM Bluetooth Scanners

1.

Make sure, that the Scanner is paired with the base station (pair mode).

2.

The interface has to be set to RS232 or USB COM. You can test the communication with any terminal
program. After testing close the terminal program so that the com port is free again.

3.

Scan the Uninstall Code. Then scan the IDM Set Up (Host Link) Code and place the scanner right the
way into its base cradle.

4.

Start the IDM Set Up Tool Software and click on “Upload”.

5.

Choose the right Communication Port (COM Port). Afterwards click on the Upload button. The software
will connect to the scanner and the Configuration Window opens.

6.

Do your settings.

7.

By clicking on the Apply button the download section opens. It’s important that you scan the IDM Set
Up (Host Link) code again and place the scanner back inside the base cradle.

8.

Click on the download button to start the download. After a successful download you can close the
IDM Set Up Tool.

9.

To re-connect scanner and base station, scan the “pair mode”- code and place the scanner in the
base station.
