Mounting the 2D LiDAR sensor
4.2.1
General notes for mounting
Reliable and problem-free operation of the system depends primarily on the proper
mounting and alignment of the 2D LiDAR sensor.
▸
Select the mounting position so that the 2D LiDAR sensor is protected from dirt,
mechanical damage and direct sunlight (risk of overheating) or other light sources.
▸
Ensure that the field of view of the entire front screen is not restricted. The 2D LiDAR
sensor must always have a clear view of the scanning area.
▸
Avoid exposing the 2D LiDAR sensor to excessive shock and vibration.
▸
For systems that vibrate heavily, use shock absorbers to prevent the possibility of
fixing screws unintentionally coming loose.
▸
Select the mounting position so that the connectors can be attached and removed.
NOTE!
If the BAS is used in outdoor areas, protecting the 2D LiDAR sensor against direct
sunlight and other environmental influences with a weather protection housing is
recommended.
•
Depending on the installation situation of the 2D LiDAR sensor, it is possible that the
connections are not accessible or are hardly accessible after the final installation.
•
In this case, we recommend laying and connecting the cables before installation of the
2D LiDAR sensor.
All mounting positions are located on the rear of the industrial truck.
•
Top mounting position (1 sensor solution)
•
Mounting position on top and bottom for additional blind spot coverage (2 sensor
solution)
•
Mounting position on right and left for side cover (2 sensor solution)
NOTE
The illustrations shown below are examples of mounting.
The driver assistance system also allows for other very flexible mounting positions.
