Congratulations on the purchase of this high-quality handlebar strap,
which will enable you to lash your vehicle (scooter, motorbike, quad
bike, ATV, jet ski, bicycle etc.) simply and quickly, e.g. on a motorbike
trailer, motorbike hoist, motorbike carrier or scooter rack for caravan/
motorhome, motorail train, ferry or in a van. The two tie-downs required
for this purpose are not included and should be purchased separately.
In order to enjoy using this product for many years, please
be sure to observe the following installation and safety
instructions.
Installation:
Lay out the handlebar strap lengthways. Then
slide the yellow sleeves of the strap over your motorbike‘s
handlebar grips. When doing this, make sure that the loops at
the ends of the strap pass straight through the yellow sleeves
and are taut. The strap must not be in contact with any
projecting objects (e.g. control switches/knobs, thumb
throttle lever, sat nav bracket), as they may be damaged when
the strap is tightened or during transportation. The soft fl eece
lining protects against scratches or damage to the handlebar
or fuel tank. It should always be positioned centrally between
the two yellow loops. The next step is to hook the tie-downs
(not included) into the loops at the ends of the strap. Then
connect the ends of the tie-downs to extremely strong/stable
and secure lashing points (e.g. fl oor anchors) on the trailer or
platform on which you are securing the vehicle. These lashing
points should preferably be directly under the handlebar grips.
You must tighten the straps slowly and evenly, so that the
vehicle‘s forks retract fully. When doing this, make sure
that the throttle grip, in particular, does not move from
the „zero position“.
Please remember that the lashed vehicle may be subject to
enormous centrifugal forces during transportation, so the
transporter should always be driven in a manner appropriate
to the situation. Otherwise serious injury and damage to the
vehicle may result (accident hazard). Also bear in mind that the
handling of the transporter (e.g. in bends) may be negatively
affected by the increased weight. When loading your vehicle,
you must observe the road traffi c regulations, the permissible
gross vehicle weight and axle weights.
Removal:
Please also take great care when removing the
tie-downs (accident hazard). In particular, both sides
should be released slowly and evenly. Then remove the
strap by following the „Installation“ instructions above in
reverse order.
Tip:
For safety reasons, you should always have at least one
person to assist you when loading/unloading and lashing
your vehicle. For optimal installation of the handlebar strap,
we recommend using the Premium tie-downs from the
Louis range (Order no. 10001016/1710). The handlebar
strap only serves as an additional means of lashing. It is
not suffi cient by itself for securing a vehicle/cargo.
Checks:
Every time you use the strap, fi rst check it for any
signs of wear or damage. If you discover any wear, cuts or
tears, the strap must not be used and must be replaced. The
strap must not be exposed to high temperatures (above 40°C)
or chemicals.
Note:
Since this is a universal product and not intended just
for one particular vehicle, it is important to make sure that it
is suitable for your type of motorcycle before you use the
product for the fi rst time. Always follow the instructions in
your vehicle owner’s manual and the directions of the vehicle
manufacturer. This is essential, as improper use of this
product or its unsuitability for a vehicle could impair the
safety and/or condition of the vehicle.
