Efficient Direct PDF/TIFF Printing*
The AR-M160 allows you to select PDF or TIFF files from a
Web browser screen and send them directly to the
AR-M160 without having to open applications or use printer
drivers. This function makes printing faster and simpler.
*Direct PDF printing requires optional AR-PK1N.

makes printer networks easier
to manage by allowing network
administrators to customise moni-
tored items and view
settings such as the IP address directly from their PC.
IP/MAC Filtering for Security
The AR-NB2 enables highly secure network printing and
scanning by controlling access. Only PCs that have either
or both their IP address or MAC (media access control)
address registered can use the AR-M160. An unknown IP
or MAC address will be denied access, thus preventing
unauthorised use.
Powerful Network Printing
The AR-M160 supports popular network protocols
including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and IPP. The optional AR-NB2
Network Printing/Scanning Expansion Kit allows easy print-
er sharing through your office network. The AR-NB2 also
gives you HP PCL 5e/6 printer language emulations.
Adding the optional AR-EB7 gives you faster printing.
For compatibility with more fonts and better graphics
handling, PostScript 3 emulation is available with the
optional AR-PK1N PS3 Expansion Kit.
Speedy Printing with Sharp Technology
The AR-EB7 Dual Function Board gives the AR-M160
Sharp Printer Language with Compression (SPLC) printing
capability. SPLC effectively reduces the data size of print
jobs, speeding up the printing process while improving
overall throughput. The AR-EB7 also provides RIP
Once/Print Many (ROPM) memory for efficient processing,
quickly freeing up your PC for other tasks and reducing net-
work congestion. Documents are output at a quick rate
of 16 ppm in 600 dpi resolution.
Built-in Offset Stacker
The AR-M160
ensures your docu-
ments will stay neat-
ly organised even
when others are
sharing the
machine. To make
it easier to locate
and retrieve your documents from the tray, the AR-M160’s
Job Offset function stacks each print job slightly shifted
apart from one another.
Smart Sharing
The AR-M160’s Smart Sharing function
allows you to connect multiple computers
directly to the machine without having to go
through a network. This is great news for
small workgroups that need to share the
unit with only a few PCs and don’t have a
LAN set up in their office. One USB 1.1
port and one IEEE 1284 port are provided
as standard, and a USB 2.0 interface can
be added with the optional AR-EB7 Dual
Function Board for a total of three PC connections.
Standard 600 dpi Host-Based Printing
The AR-M160 supports host-
based printing, enabling it to
print out documents at up to 12
ppm from PCs running popular
Windows
®
operating systems.
And with Fit-to-Page, N-up print-
ing, Watermarks and other fea-
tures you would expect to find
only on higher-end multifunction
products, the AR-M160 can save time and paper and give
your documents a professional look.
