SELECTING THE RESOLUTION AND EXPOSURE
The resolution and exposure can be adjusted to match the size and darkness of letters on the original,
or for an original such as a photograph.
●
The initial (default) settings are STANDARD resolution and AUTO exposure. The initial settings can
be changed to any of the other available settings using the key operator program. (See page 152)
●
When scanning multiple pages using the SPF, the resolution and exposure settings cannot be
changed once scanning has begun. When using the platen glass, the resolution and contrast settings
can be changed when pages are changed on the platen glass.
●
Even if you send a fax using a high resolution setting such as FINE, SUPER FINE, or ULTRA FINE,
some receiving fax machines may print the fax at a lower resolution.

Resolution settings
Standard
Use this setting for originals with normal-size letters (like the text in this manual).
Fine
Use this setting for originals with small letters or detailed drawings. The original will be
scanned at twice the resolution of Standard.
Super fine
Use this setting for originals with intricate drawings or diagrams. A higher-quality image
will be transmitted than with Fine.
Ultra fine
Use this setting for originals with intricate drawings or diagrams. This setting gives the
highest image quality; however, more time will be required for transmission.
Half Tone
Use this setting for photographs or originals with tone variations (color originals, etc.). Half Tone
enables an even clearer image to be sent; however, more time will be required for transmission.
