CHAPTER -3: USING YOUR FRIDGE

Defrosting

Excessive frost will affect the performance of the refrigerator. The ice making compartment should be defrosted at least

twice a year, or when ice exceeds 7 mm thick.

For this;

•  Make sure that drain tray flap is in place. (Set the Winter mode. At the end of defrosting set the previous mode

depending on the ambient temperature - Winter or Summer mode)

•

The day before you defrost the freezer, set the thermostat dial to 5 to freeze the foods completely.

•

During defrosting, frozen foods should be wrapped in several layers of paper and kept in a cool place. The

inevitable rise in temperature will shorten their storage life.

Remember to use these foods within a relatively short period of

time.

•  Switch  the  refrigerator  off  at  the  socket  outlet  and  pull  out  the

mains plug.

•

Leave the door open. To accelerate the defrosting process one

or more basins of warm water can be placed in the freezer

compartment.

•

Dry the inside of the unit and dripping tray with a sponge or a clean

cloth and set the thermostat knob to 5.

The hole at the bottom of refrigerator at the back is closed and has no effect

on the product’s cooling system.

Replacing LED Lighting

If your fridge freezer has LED lighting contact the Sharp help desk as this should be changed by authorized personnel

only.

CHAPTER -4: FOOD STORAGE GUIDANCE

•

To reduce frost build up never place liquids

in

unsealed containers in the fridge compartment.

•

Allow

warm

or hot food to cool down before storing. This helps reduce power consumption.

•

To avoid frost buildup ensure that nothing is stored touching the back wall.

•

The coldest area of the refrigerator is the bottom. We recommend to use this area to store food that will perish

easily, such as fish, ready meals, baked goods or dairy products. The warmest area is the top shelf of the door.

We recommend you store butter or cheese

there

.

•  For normal working conditions, it will be sufficient to adjust the temperature setting of your refrigerator to +4 °C.

•

The temperature of the fridge compartment should be in the range of 0-8 °C, fresh

food

 below 0 °C

is

 iced

•

and

will rot,

bacterial load increases above 8 °C, and spoils.

•

Do not put hot food in the refrigerator immediately, wait for

it to cool down first.

 Hot foods increase

•

the

temperature

 of your refrigerator and

may

 cause food poisoning and

spoil

the food.

•  Meat, fish, etc. should be

stored

in the chiller compartment, and the vegetable compartment is

designed

 for

vegetables. (if available)

•

To prevent cross contamination, meat products and fruit vegetables

should not

 stored together.

•

Food

should be placed in the refrigerator in closed containers or covered to prevent moisture and

odours.
