The MEWP VR Simulator is designed to take
the trainee through a series of scenarios, which
are grouped into unique training courses. Each
scenario covers a part of basic operation or a
common problem for operators in the field, while
each course focuses on a broader category, like
driving or basket position. Throughout each course,
metrics regarding the trainee’s driving, behaviors,
and view direction are tracked.
The courses are divided into three sections:
• Assessment: The Assessment courses are
based on industry-standard practical exams
for each type of simulated equipment. These
courses limit penalties to only those evaluated
during traditional exams.
• Remediation: The Remediation courses
provide the operator the chance to work and
improve upon specific skills required for safe
and efficient equipment operation.
• Practice: The Practice courses allow operators
to familiarize themselves with each scenario
separately, providing a risk-free zone to
experiment with equipment controls.
Each of these sections have different learning
objectives and pose different challenges to the
operator. These scenarios cover real-world driving
concerns that are generally not possible during
hands-on training, including tip-over events.
To access each scenario individually, the facilitator
will need to select the equipment on the launcher,
click on the Practice tab, and then click on the
Full option, which will then allow the operator to
select whatever specific scenario they would like to
practice.
