Using the Serial Interface
In the impossibility of accessing the receiver through a web browser, the WiPort device can also be
configured in the following way. To complete this procedure, you will need to open two serial
connections (noted A and B) to the receiver. These serial connections can either be the two native
COM ports (COM1 or COM2), or the two USB virtual serial ports (USB1 or USB2), or a combination
thereof. You can use the DataLink software on the CD accompanying your receiver to open these
connections.
1.
From serial connection A, enter the following commands one by one in order to reset the
WiPort and set up a pipe between serial connection A and the WiPort device:
sgpf,gp3,,,levelhigh
scs,COM3,9600
sdio,COM3,DC1,DC2
sdio,COM1,DC2,DC1
Note: in that last command, it is assumed that serial connection A is COM1. Please replace
COM1 by COM2, USB1 or USB2 as applicable.
2.
From serial connection B, enter the following command to unreset the WiPort device:
sgpf,gp3,,,levellow
3.
Quickly go back to serial connection A and enter three lowercase “x” characters no later than 3
seconds after having completed step 2 above. This causes the WiPort to enter Setup Mode.
4.
Still from serial connection A, quickly press the <Enter> key when prompted to do so (there is
a 5-second timeout).
5.
You now see the Setup Menu of the WiPort device. Select “0” to enter network configuration
options and follow the instructions to change the IP address. Select “9” to save the new
settings in non-volatile memory and exit. Do not select any other option than “0” or “9”.
6.
From serial connection A, enter ten uppercase “S” characters (simply hold the “shift-S” key
pressed) to break the pipe to the WiPort device.
For more detailed documentation on the WiPort Setup Mode, please refer to Chapter 5 of the WiPort
User Guide on the CD-ROM accompanying the receiver.
