2.7.2. Connecting the Speed Cable
The 3-conductor speed sensor cable shown in Figure 2-10 is for connecting to an
optional speed signal sensor or to a transmission control module (TCM).
Connecting to a Speed Signal Senor
The wire cables for correct wiring to the
signals are described in Table 2-3. The green speed pulse signal is designed to
interface to speed sensors that output a pulse signal of up to 20 VDC, 20 VAC
p-p
or speed sensors that use open-collector style outputs. Contact Seon Design for
recommended speed sensors to use with the EX8 Plus System.
All of the wires in the speed sensor cable are protected against short circuits and
transients. Refer to the product documentation that comes with the speed sensor
for further information on connecting to an external speed sensor.
Connecting to a Transmission Control Module (TCM)
The EX8 Plus DVR
has the ability to interface directly to some types of TCM in vehicles. Contact
Seon Design for further details about connecting the speed cable to different
TCMs.
To connect the speed cable to the Smart-Link module:
•
Connect the speed cable connector into the
SPEED
connector on the Smart-
Link.
