on the left.
The e
emergency s starting c cable m must
be a attached iin tthe ffollowing o order:
Before the starting cable can be con-
nected to the (+) terminal on the battery
of the AROSA, the cover of the fuse holder
must first be opened (see page 3.47).
1. One end of (+) cable (usually red) to
the (+) terminal of the flat battery A.
2. Other end of the red cable to the (+)
terminal of boosting battery B.
3. One end of (–) cable (usually black) to
the (–) terminal of boosting battery B.
4. Other end of black cable (X) to a solid
metal part bolted to the block or to cylin-
der block itself.
Do not connect the cable to the flat bat-
tery minus terminal. The sparks could
ignite the explosive gas flowing out of the
battery.

more tthe jjumper c cable a attached tto
the b battery p positive tterminal m must
not c come iinto c contact w with e electri-
cally c conductive v vehicle p parts – –

Route tthe jjumper c cables s so tthat
they c cannot c come iinto c contact
with rrotating p parts iin tthe e engine
compartment.

Do n not s stand w with y your fface o over
the b battery – – d danger o of a acid b burns!

Keep s sources o of iignition ((naked
flames, b burning c cigarettes e etc.)
well a away ffrom tthe b battery – – d dan-
ger o of e explosion!
•
Start the engine as described in the
“Starting engine” section.
•
If the engine does not start at once,
stop using starter after 10 seconds, wait
about half a minute and then try again.
•
With e engine rrunning, d disconnect
cables iin rreverse s sequence tto tthe
connection.
