5.1
The lifetime of a filter depends on many factors including the work rate, the airflow and the concentration of the contaminant in the
atmosphere. A gas filter should be changed immediately when chemical breakthrough of a contaminant is detected by smell, taste or any
other means. A dust filter should be changed when breathing becomes impaired.
The exterior of the filter can be cleaned with the use of a damp cloth. solvents must not be used and care should be taken to ensure no
water enters the filter. Cleaning of the filter does not extend its life.
5.2
Changing the pre filter.
5.2.1 Remove pre-filter cover.
5.2.2 Dispose of pre-filter pad, hygienically and safely.
5.2.3 Insert new pre-filter pad and re-fit cover.
5.3
Changing the filter cartridge.
5.3.1 Remove pre-filter cover and unscrew filter cartridge.
5.3.2 Remove from mask together with connector and dispose of hygienically and safely.
5.3.3 Clean respirator. Re-fit new filter.
5.3.4 Respirator should be cleaned, checked for worn, damaged parts after each shift or each use (if not used continuously). If filter cartridge is
to be re-used do not remove from respirator, but clean filter with cloth and warm soapy water.
5.3.5 Dry with a clean cloth. Water must not enter the filter cartridge.
5.3.6 To carry out a more thorough cleaning of the respirator, remove the filter cartridge and exhale valve and wash the complete respirator body
in warm, soapy water and dry.
5.3.7 Re-fit components in reverse order from which they were removed. Care should be taken not to damage inhalation/exhalation rubber
valves. Condition of the valves should be checked weekly and replaced if damaged/deteriorated.
DO NOT USE SOLVENTS, STRONG DETERGENTS, bLEACHES OR PETROLEUM bASED PRODUCTS TO CLEAN ANY PART OF
MASk.
WARNING!
Immediately leave work area and change the respirator and/or filter if breathing becomes difficult, dizziness or other distress
occurs, respirator is damaged, or you sense irritation, smell or taste contaminates in the work area.
5.4
Cleaning the respirator.
After each work period (shift, or working day, etc.) the respirator must be cleaned and prepared for the next period of use. When the filter is
being replaced it is a good opportunity to disassemble the respirator and thoroughly clean it. no special tools are required to remove any of
the components from the face-piece.
5.4.1 The outer surfaces of the respirator may be cleaned using a cloth dampened with warm soapy water, then dried using a dry cloth.
DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO GET INTO THE FILTER.
5.4.2 Clean the respirator components using warm soapy water.
DO NOT USE DETERGENTS, THINNERS, SOLVENTS OR PETROLEUM-bASED DISINFECTANTS. TAkE GREAT CARE NOT TO
DAMAGE THE RUbbER SEAL ON THE INSIDE OF THE FILTER HOLDER WHILST CLEANING.
5.4.3 Inhalation and exhalation valves must be cleaned carefully.
DO NOT
stretch or distort the valves as this may cause incorrect sealing. Wipe
the inside surface of the mask using a mild antiseptic solution, and dry with a clean cloth.
IF ANY DETERIORATION OF VALVE DIAPHRAGM OR OTHER RUbbER COMPONENTS IS VISIbLE, REPLACE IMMEDIATELY.
5.4.4 Rinse in clean, cool water, shake off any surplus water, wipe with a clean dry cloth and allow to dry naturally.
5.4.5 Once the components are clean and dry, re-assemble the respirator in correct order.
5.4.6 fit the correct new filter.
5.5
Storage
filters should be stored in a dry cool environment away from direct sunlight and contamination. When not in use or during transportation
this filter should be stored in a container such that it is out of direct sunlight, away from chemicals and abrasive substances and cannot be
damaged by physical contact with hard surfaces/items.
5. MAINTENANCE
NOTE:

before use.
Ensure the face-piece fits comfortably on the face. Check that the correct cartridge to suit the hazard is fitted and that all components are
correctly assembled and in a clean condition.
Note:
Respirator selection must be done by a person aware of the conditions of intended use.
4.2
Fitting the respirator.
WARNING!
The fitting of a respirator must only be done under the supervision of a competent person. It is unlikely that a good fit will occur
if facial hair passes under the face-seal.
4.2.1 straps should not be twisted or covering any part of the ear. Adjustments should be made via the four elastic attachment points. The chin
should fit comfortably into bottom of the respirator. To check efficiency, place a piece of card in front of filters, inhale, and respirator should
contract sharply.
4.3
During use.
4.3.1 In the interest of safety, change the filter frequently.
4.3.2 The effective life of the filter should be determined by a competent person who is aware of the conditions of use.
4.3.3 Upon leaving the contaminated area, remove excess contamination from clothes before removing the respirator.
