NOTE:

A good battery will start a vehicle with a flat battery, provided the rest of the system is functioning correctly. If the flat battery will not maintain

the vehicle operation, or, if the flat battery later fails again, consult a qualified vehicle electrician.

WARNING! ENSURE THAT YOU READ, UNDERSTAND AND APPLY SECTION 1 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. IF IN ANY DOUBT REFER

TO THE VEHICLE HANDBOOK, OR CONTACT A QUALIFIED VEHICLE ELECTRICIAN.

3.1.

BEFORE CONNECTING THE PROJUMP

3.1.1. Check that both vehicles have the same voltage batteries.

3.1.2. Ensure that vehicles are not touching.

3.1.3. Switch off all electrical equipment on both vehicles, including ignition, select neutral gears (or Park if automatic) and apply handbrakes.

3.1.4. Determine which battery terminal (positive or negative) on the flat battery and on the good battery is connected to the vehicle bodywork or

chassis. These are the EARTH terminals. The terminals connected to the vehicle electrical systems are the LIVE terminals.
FOR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME POLARITY, I.E. BOTH NEGATIVE OR BOTH POSITIVE EARTH, REFER TO 3.2.

FOR VEHICLES WITH DIFFERENT POLARITY REFER TO 3.3.
When connecting positive terminal to positive terminal (or to positive earth) use the red Projump cable. When connecting negative terminal

to negative terminal (or to negative earth) use the black Projump cable.

3.2.

VEHICLES WITH SAME POLARITY

3.2.1.  Connect the LIVE terminal of the good battery to the LIVE terminal of the flat battery.

3.2.2. Connect the EARTH terminal of the good battery to a suitable earthing point on the engine or chassis of the vehicle with the flat battery.

WARNING!

DO NOT use the vehicle fuel system (i.e. fuel lines or carburettor/injection system) for earthing.

3.2.3.  Check the Traffic Light system on the Projump, as in 3.4. below.

WARNING!

DO NOT REV THE DONOR VEHICLE ENGINE WHILST ATTEMPTING TO JUMP-START. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A

HIGH VOLTAGE DISCHARGE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.

CAUTION!

Before attempting the jump-start, start the donor vehicle engine and allow it to run for about one minute.

When the donor engine is running smoothly (DO NOT REV THE ENGINE), try to start the vehicle with the flat battery. If the Projump cables

become excessively hot, allow a few minutes for them to cool before trying again.

3.3.

VEHICLES WITH DIFFERENT POLARITY

3.3.1.  Connect the EARTH terminal of the good battery to the LIVE terminal of the flat battery.

3.3.2.  Connect the LIVE terminal of the good battery to a suitable earthing point on the engine or chassis of the vehicle with the flat battery.

WARNING!

DO NOT use the vehicle fuel system (i.e. fuel lines or carburettor/injection system) for earthing.
