Synchronous data transfer
11.5.1
Synchronous data transfer periods supported
Table 11.5-1 and 11.5-2 list Synchronous Data transfer periods supported by the drive. The data transfer period
to be used by the drive and the initiator is established by an exchange of messages during the Message Phase
of operation. See the section on message protocol in the SCSI Interface manual*.

Physical interface
Figure 11.6-1 shows the locations of the physical interface components for the ST31200N/ND drives. Shown
are the locations of the D.C. power connector, the SCSI interface connector, and the drive select and option
select header.
An optional version of this drive, the models ST31200NC and ST3620NC, has an 80 pin connector that has
the SCSI I/O signals and the DC power all together in the 80 pin I/O connector. See Figure 11.6.3-1b and Table
11.6.3-1c.
Details of the physical, electrical and logical characteristics are given in paragraphs following, while the SCSI
operational aspects of Seagate drive interfaces are given in the Seagate SCSI Interface Product Manual,
P/N 77738479.
