2.
Connect the end of the lead wires coming
from the solar panels to the splitter cable.
3.
Connect the two ring terminals from the
splitter cable to the voltage regulator.
WARNING:
Be sure to connect all matching
polarities. Black (-) is negative and red (+)
is positive.
4.
Turn the voltage regulator ON to charge
the battery.
5.
To stop charging the battery, turn the
power switch OFF and disconnect the
solar panels from the voltage regulator.
USING THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR
The voltage regulator provides the following
protection while charging:
Over-discharge protection:
When the
charge level of the battery goes too low
(below 11 volts) from product usage, the
voltage regulator will automatically shut off
the power output to prevent damage to the
battery. If this occurs, stop using the battery
and charge it until the battery is charged.
Overcharge protection:
If the electricity
level on the battery goes too high (above
14.5 volts) the voltage regulator will
automatically shut off power input, to
prevent damage to the battery.
Overload protection:
If the output current
exceeds 5 amps, the fuse will blow,
preventing damage to the voltage regulator.
If this occurs, have a qualified service
technician replace the fuse.
To use the 12V lights:
1.
Turn the voltage regulator ON.
2.
Attach the 12V lights to the sockets on
the end of each light wire.
3.
Plug the other end of the 12V light’s wire
into either of the 12 Volt DC outlets on the
voltage regulator.
NOTE:
The light bulbs should not be used on
anything other than 12V DC systems.
The voltage regulator can also be used to
power other 3V and 6V DC small appliances.
1.
Plug the appropriate plug on the multi-
purpose adapter into the appliance. The
adapter has 3, 6 and 12 Volt DC plugs.
2.
Insert the plug on the other end of the
wire attached to the multi-purpose
adapter into the appropriate DC outlet on
the voltage regulator.
3.
Turn on your appliance.
CAUTION!
Only one appliance can be used at
a time with this adapter and the adapter must
be plugged into the same voltage output.
4.
When finished, unplug the multi-purpose
adapter wire plug from the voltage
regulator, and then unplug the multi-
purpose adapter from the appliance.
5.
To charge a cell phone or other small
electronic item, plug the item’s power
cord into the USB port on the front of the
voltage regulator.
6.
Use the inverter output or the 12V female
output ports to connect the male adapters
for 12V accessory items that need to be
charged.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
•
Disconnect all solar panels and batteries
and clean with mild, non- abrasive cleanser
and soft cloth and paper towels. Do not
clean with brushes or abrasive cleaners.
•
Clean and inspect the solar panels frequently,
to maintain peak efficiency. Inspect the
general condition of solar kit system (panels,
batteries, regulator and mounting). Check for
loose hardware, wiring insulation damage or
weathering, cracked glass, open housing,
cracked or broken parts, loose or corroded
contacts, and any other condition that may
affect its safe operation.
•
Cover the solar panels with an opaque cover.
