9.4 Setting the Wing Gauge Wheel

The wing gauge wheel provides a safety feature which helps to stop the shanks from becoming overloaded. If

uneven terrain is encountered such as a drainage ditch or when turning on the end row and running the wing

up onto the road ditch the wheel takes the weight of the machine rather than that weight being supported on

only a few shanks.
During normal field operating conditions the tire should be suspended in the air about one to two inches. Use

the adjustment bolts and holes provided to adjust it accordingly.

9.5 Turning in the Field

The discs are required to be lifted out of the ground when making turns in the field. Significant side forces can

be generated during turns which could damage the disc shanks and discs over a period of time.
