If the blade is bent (do not align!)
• If the gears are damaged.
Replacing the line spool/cutting line Fig. 35 - 39
1.
Dismantle the line spool (1) as described in sec
-
tion 8.4 Assembly. Press the spool together and
remove one half of the housing. Fig. 35
2.
Take the spool plate out of the line spool housing.
Fig. 36
3.
Remove any remaining cutting line.
4. Place the new cutting line in the center and hang
the loop which has formed into the recess in the
spool splitter. Fig. 37
5.
Wind the line onto the spool counterclockwise
and under tension. The spool splitter will sepa-
rate the two halves of the line. Fig. 38
6.
Hook the last 15 cm of the two ends of the line
onto the opposite lying line holders of the spool
plate. Fig. 39
7. Thread the two ends of the line through the metal
eyelets in the line spool housing .
8. Press the spool plate into the line spool housing.
Fig. 36
9. Pull the two line ends sharply to release them
from the line holders.
10.
Join the housing parts together again. Fig. 35
11. Cut the excess line to a length of around 13 cm.
This will reduce the load on the engine when
starting and warming up.
12.
Remount the line spool (see section 8.4). If you
are replacing the complete line spool, skip points
3-6.
Grinding the safety hood blade
The safety hood blade can become blunt over time.
•
When you notice this, undo the screw holding the
safety hood blade on the safety hood.
•
Clamp the blade in a vise.
•
Sharpen the blade with a flat file and make sure
that the angle of the cutting edge is not altered in
the process. File in one direction only.
Replacing and resharpening the cutting blade at the
end of the mowing season always resharpen the cut-
ting blade or, if required, replace the cutting blade
with a new one.
Unbalanced blades will cause the brush cutter to vi
-
brate violentlyrisk of accident!
Change and clean the spark plug Fig. 32 - 33
1.
Once the engine has cooled, remove the spark
plug using the socket spanner supplied.
2. Clean the plug with a wire brush.
3.
Using a feeler gauge; set the gap to 0.50.7 mm.
4.
Install the spark plug carefully by hand, to avoid
cross-threading.
5.
After the spark plug is seated, tighten with span
-
ner to compress the washer.
Clean the air filter Fig. 28 - 31
Soiled air filters reduce the engine power by supply
-
ing too little air to the carburetor. Regular checks are
therefore essential.
•
Unclip the air filter cover and remove the sponge
filter element.
•
To avoid objects falling into the air tank, replace
the air filter cover.
•
Wash the filter element in warm soap water, rinse
and allow drying naturally.
Important:
Never clean the air filter with petrol or
inflammable solvents.
Checking the oil level
m
CAUTION!
Never run the engine with no or too lit
-
tle oil. This could cause severe damage to the engine.
Use only SAE30 / 10W30 engine oil.
Checking the oil level (Fig. 45):
•
Laying unit on a flat surface.
•
Unscrew the oil dip stick by turning anticlockwise,
pull out and wipe. Insert the dip stick back in the
filling mount as far as the stop.
•
Pull out the dip stick again and read off the oil level
while holding horizontally. The oil level must be be
-
tween the maximum and the minimum
Changing the oil (Fig. 44-45)
•
Change the engine oil every year before the start of
the season when the engine is warm.
•
Use only engine oil (SAE30 / 10W30).
•
Open the oil filler screw ( 23).
• Drain the warm engine oil into a drip tray.
•
Fill up with engine oil as far as the top mark on the
dipstick (approx. 0.315 l).
Dispose of the used oil in accordance with appli-
cable regulations.
m
Warning!
Never run the engine without the air filter ele
-
ment installed.
Lubricate angle transmission
Lubricate with lithiumbased grease. Remove the
screw and put in the grease, turning the shaft manu
-
ally until grease emerges, then replace the screw.
Storing the unit
After cutting, clean the unit thoroughly. Store the unit
in a dry room allow the motor to cool down before-
hand.
Important hint in case of sending the equipment
to a service station:
Due to security reasons please see to it that the
equipment is sent back free of oil and gas!
