Part No. 495940 Issue 2
Pr
ogrammable Multi-function T
ransmitter
1
This transmitter is supplied as a self contained PCB assembly for installation into
other equipment. This unit will transmit to all the 4600 series receivers. (Refer to
modes of operation for correct use.) It has an integral, unique design, mini-helical
aerial that attaches directly to the PCB: alternatively, it can be used with any
external, 50 ohm aerial, if required.
Design advantages include:
•
Crystal controlled accuracy
•
Pulse scanning of inputs increases immunity to damp conditions
•
Built in long-life lithium battery. (seven year target lifetime.)
•
12 functional modes cover most requirements
PHYSICAL DETAILS
The unit consists of a single-sided, SMT technology PCB,
90mm x 63mm, which incorporates a standard 4600 series encoder and a
Scantronic 04689UK-50 transmitter. There are three types of input terminals, each
with a positive (+ ve), Ground (Gnd) and an input connection (A,B,C) for
convenience.
Two groups of DIL switches are provided, one group of 12 controls the site/unit
code settings and the smaller group of 6 control the operating modes.
The aerial connection takes a 6BA, or similar, nut/bolt enabling the small, spring,
helical aerial supplied to be fitted directly to the PCB, or, if required, a flying lead to
any external aerial can also be used.
The 04603UK-50 is powered by a permanently-connected 3.7V Lithium-thionyl
chloride power cell. The PCB consumes a small amount of current, even when not
transmitting, giving a quiescent battery life of sixteen years for slow mode and
seven years for fast mode operation. If the transmitter is triggered 50 times a day,
the theoretical battery life is reduced to 10 years and 6 years respectively.
Scantronic specify 7 years and 4 years to allow for tolerances.
In test mode, the battery consumption is typically 5mA giving a continuous
transmission time of 320 hours.
