These instructions are intended for:
expert electricians or appropriately trained personnel.
1. Safety information
ADVANCE-GRP series distribution boards are used for fixed installations in environments with a potential risk of
explosion identified as Zone 22.
These instructions for installation, use and maintenance must be kept in a safe location for future reference. During
operation or maintenance work on the apparatus, do not leave this manual or other objects inside the enclosure.
Use the ADVANCE-GRP series distribution boards for their approved use only, and keep them completely intact
and clean.
The distribution boards have been designed to withstand shocks of 7 J and to be used under normal vibration
conditions. They have not been designed for use in environments subject to extreme vibrations.
The enclosure is made of fibreglass-reinforced polyester.
The protection mode cannot be guaranteed if the product is installed incorrectly.
Use only original spare parts supplied by SCAME.
No modification/work is permitted on the interlocked sockets unless specifically indicated in this manual.
Always follow the national safety rules and the safety instructions contained in this manual whenever working on
the distribution boards.
2. Compliance with standards
ADVANCE-GRP series distribution boards are intended for use in:
Zone 22 (EN 60079-0:2012+A11:2013, EN 60079-31:2014).
3. Technical data and codes
3.1 Type of Ex-protection

explosive atmosphere due to the presence of combustible dust.

: Equipment classified as group IIIC, product suited to be used in presence of conductive dust.
T90°C
: Maximum surface temperature.
Dc
: EPL for combustible dust.
Ta -25/+60°C
: Allowed room temperature range, present at the installation site.
3.2 Degree of protection of distribution boards IP66
3.3 Power supply terminal: connecting cables and tightening torques (see table 1)
Terminal section: look at the wiring diagram attached. Use cable section corresponding to terminal section.
4. Installation
Installation must be carried out by suitably trained personnel in compliance with applicable laws.
Comply with the rules of generally accepted engineering practice for the installation of electrical material
(EN 60079-14), national safety rules and the safety instructions contained in this manual whenever working on
the unit. Before opening the cover and the various compartments of distribution boards, check that the atmosphere
is not hazardous or always disconnect the power supply voltage. These operations must be carried out by suitably
trained and expert personnel.
4.1 Instructions for safe use
The IP degree of protection of the distribution board must be kept in compliance with the requirements of the
environment in which it will be installed by using suitable cable glands and gaskets and by complete compliance
with the installation standards. When other certified components have been assembled in the distribution boards,
the user must take any limitation indicated on the respective certificates into consideration.
The equipment for drilling the distribution board must be suitable for the material (fibreglass-reinforced polyester)
and used at appropriate speeds to prevent damage to the component’s walls.
The holes must be drilled within the drillable area defined for each wall and must be carried out up to standard,
without any burr. The walls set up for drilling have a thickness of 5,7 mm.
The drilled holes are not suitable for threading.
Store the distribution board in the warehouse inside its original packaging to protect it from dust and humidity: the
distribution board must be removed from the package just before installation.
These installation instructions refer to distribution boards without holes drilled for allowing cable entry. Holes must
be drilled in compliance with this manual. The cable glands are usually assembled during installation.
The distribution board must be installed intact and free of any damage.
The distribution boards must be installed so that the dust does not penetrate into the socket with or without the plug
inserted. To minimize this risk, in case the socket cover has been accidentally left open, the socket must be assembled
and positioned at an angle of no more than 45° with respect to the vertical, with the opening facing downwards.
Instructions for correct installation of the interlocked socket:
1) Read the Instructions for installation, use and maintenance regarding the interlocked socket.
2) Using the fastening dimensions shown in attached layout, mark the positions of the fastening holes on the installation wall.
3) Drill the fastening holes on the installation wall and thread the holes (if required).
4) Remove the distribution board from the package and check that it has not been damaged during transport.
5) Check that the components are clean and free of defects.
6) Place the distribution board in the assembly position on the installation wall, using any assistance necessary in
order to prevent accidents.
7) Fasten the apparatus by repeating the following operations for each fastening hole:
a) Insert the clamping screw into the fastening hole;
b) Tighten the bolt (if the hole is a through-hole) or tighten the clamping screw completely.
8) Check that the fastening is secure.
9) Proceed with the assembly of the cable glands (if not preassembled) following the manufacturer’s instructions.
10)Insert the cables in the apparatus, being careful to secure the amour of the cables (if applicable).
11)Proceed with the wiring according to the wiring diagram issued to the installer.
Before closing the cover:
12)Check that all foreign materials have been removed from inside the distribution board compartments: do not
leave these instructions inside.
13)Check that the gaskets are intact and installed properly.
14)Close the distribution board compartments by tightening the screws appropriately in order to guarantee the IP
degree of protection. The tightening torque of the screws is 1,2 Nm.
15)Store these instructions in a safe location for future reference.
4.2 Wiring of the terminals
The wiring must be carried out up to standard.

Each terminal can host a single conductor, unless several conductors have been joined previously in a suitable
manner.
The electrical cables must have insulation suited for the voltage.
Unused terminals must be tightened completely.
4.3 Protection – Earthing
The distribution boards must be connected to protection/earthing circuits in compliance with the system’s
installation rules. The internal earthing terminal will have to be connected to an equipotential protection or earthing
circuit before powering the apparatus.
4.4 Available accessories
The accessories supplied with the interlocked socket must be assembled prior to the installation of the device,
by skilled personnel, following the methods indicated in the relevant instruction sheets.
A) Kit with microswitch for plug presence check (Art. 579.0100 for 16-32-63A)
B) Auxiliary contact (1 NO c 1 NC contact ) (Fam. art. 590.PL00400X).
Use original, SCAME-approved accessories only.
4.5 Components
Use original spare parts only.
The components to be incorporated in the device or the original spare parts must be installed by suitably
trained personnel.
4.6 Drillable areas
The areas indicated in

must be drilled in compliance with the minimum distances, diameters
and maximum number of holes indicated in
Table 5 - page 2
(Clearance).
4.7 Cable glands
Use only ATEX cable glands suitable for the substances, temperatures and installation zone (marked II 3D Ex
tc IIIC with minimum degree of protection IP66). Make sure that the selected cable glands are suited for the
cables, so as to prevent any loosening and guarantee a permanent seal against humidity and dust.
Unused cable entries, if open, must be closed with ATEX-certified plugs suited for the substances, temperatures
and installation zone (marked II 3D Ex tc IIIC with minimum degree of protection IP66).
• For installation of the cable glands (subject to separate ATEX certification), follow the manufacturer’s
instructions, specifically the tightening torque and the presence of gaskets.
• Cable entry in the 63A version MUST be carried out through the relevant muffle equipped with single cable
entry type M50x1.5 (Kit with muffle and cable gland art. 579.EX0201)

5. Use, maintenance and repair
Inspection and maintenance must be carried out by suitably trained personnel in compliance with the standards
(e.g., EN 60079-17). During routine maintenance, always check the components responsible for the degree
of protection.
The maintenance of this apparatus must be carried out by suitably trained personnel in compliance with the standards.
5.1 Plugs to be used
Use only ATEX certified plugs suitable for use in Zone 22 (D) with degree of protection IP66.
5.2 Lock to be used
For correct locking of the handle in “0” or “1” position and any fuse inspection door use lock with Ø 6,3mm arc.
5.3 Socket cover
If the plug is not inserted, the cover of the interlocked socket must be kept completely screwed on.
5.4 Incorporated protection devices
- The front opening for the control, maintenance and replacement of fuses must be made in the absence of a
potentially explosive atmosphere and with the system disconnected. If the fuses need to be changed, use
adequate type fuses: 16A/32A: 10,3x38mm - 63A: 22x58mm.
5.5 Routine maintenance
Routine maintenance is necessary in order to guarantee proper operation and preservation of degree of protection.
1) Check that the gasket is intact each time the enclosure is opened.
2) Check that the closing screws are all in position and well-tightened each time the enclosure is closed.
3) Check that the screws/bolts fastening the enclosure to the wall are well-tightened and free of corrosion.
4) Check the seal of the cable glands.
5) Check for any damage to the enclosure.
6) Check that the screw terminals are tightened as indicated by the manufacturer.
7) In environments with the presence of combustible dust, the surface of the enclosure’s top wall must be cleaned
periodically, preventing the deposited dust from reaching a thickness of more than 5 mm.
5.6 Chemical aggression
The interlocked sockets of the ADVANCE-GRP series are made using:
- fibreglass-reinforced polyester for the base and cover of the main enclosure;
- thermoplastic alloy (PC-XILOXANE) for the socket cover and ring nut;
- silicon rubber for the base-cover gasket, knob gasket NBR (vulcanized rubber);
- rubber for the socket cover gasket.
The environment in which the interlocked sockets will be installed must be considered carefully in order to determine
the sustainability of these materials in the presence of chemical agents or corrosive atmospheres.
5.7 Disposal
The product must be disposed of in compliance with national rules on the disposal and recycling of industrial waste.
