Descent
1 With the wheelchair properly attached to the stair climber and the green
light lit on the steering bar control panel, put pressure on the steering bar
(Figure 20/b) such that the nose of the Roby rises (Figure 20/d) and the
manual auxiliary wheels activate (Figure 20/c). Move the machine to the
edge of the first stair of the flight (Figure 20/a).
• For staircases with one flight, move the Roby to the center of the
staircase, front to back, with the front parallel with the step.
• For staircases with more than one flight, move the Roby to the center
of the staircase, front to back, with the front parallel with the step. To
help maneuver around the base of each flight, keep the Roby as close
to the outer edge (wall side) as possible.
WARNING
Ensure the stair climber is perpendicular to the steps. Do
not attempt to travel on staircases diagonally.
