17 General
This manual is intended to help you get to know the routing and drilling device and to use it as in-
tended. It describes the safe and proper handling of this device. The safety instructions given as
well as the local accident prevention regulations and general safety regulations applicable to the
area of use must be observed.

Changes to the operating instructions for the routing and drilling device can be made by sauter

Before starting any work on the routing and drilling device, please read the operating instructions in
full, especially the chapter on safety.
This user manual is part of the routing and drilling device. It should be always available to all per-
sons handling the routing and drilling device. It should be handed over if the routing and drilling de-
vice is passed on.
This user manual is to be treated confidentially. It is intended exclusively for persons working on
and with the routing and drilling device. All information, texts, drawings, pictures, and other illustra-
tions are protected by copyright. Any misuse is prohibited.
18 Safety
The routing and drilling device was built according to the applicable rules of technology at the time
of its development and manufacture. It is considered safe to operate.
When handling the routing and drilling device, especially in connection with the router used, hazards
can arise if it is used improperly or not as intended. This chapter "Safety" contains all the important
safety aspects for optimum protection of the persons working with the routing and drilling device, as
well as for safe and trouble-free use of this device.
18.1 Design and function of the routing and drilling device
The routing and drilling device is of a robust construction. Aluminium profiles in generous dimen-
sions ensure precise, dimensionally accurate and repeatable operation.
Mounting the routing and drilling device on a sufficiently stable plate is a prerequisite and very easy
with the fastening devices included in the delivery.
The movements are very smooth and are carried out by hand.
End stops ensure a safe limitation of the movements.
The router can be inserted very easily into the support frame with the help of the adapter plate.
Two tables show which routers can be used for work with the routing and drilling device.
The router bits used in the routers are largely protected against contact when used in the routing
and drilling device.
Scraper brushes enclose the machining area. This effectively limits flying chips and the distribution
of dust in the room air and, depending on the machining operation, can be effectively captured by
the connected extraction system.
