PLB-110
SECTIOn 9 – CaRE anD MaInTEnanCE
The SATRo
TM
Model PLB-110 requires very little preventive or routine maintenance.
If the PLB is in daily field service then we recommend that you perform a general
visual inspection of the PLB exterior each work day, a PLB self test each month and a
gPS self test every six months.
If the PLB is stored in climate controlled conditions and used for infrequent weekend
excursions or vacations then we recommend that you perform a general visual
inspection of the exterior of the PLB and a PLB self test seven business days prior to the
start of your excursion. This gives you time to send the PLB back to a factory authorized
service center if required, and have it returned before the start of the excursion.
Abrasions, scrapes, slight scratches on the exterior of the PLB are acceptable.
Cracks in the case, in antenna, loose antenna mounting, battery packs with expiration
dates in the next 30 workdays, chips or chunks removed from the gasket, lost on/
off switch cover and/or lost antenna latch require the PLB be returned to a factory
service center for maintenance and performance checks. A gPS self test should be
performed every six months.
Any PLB that indicates a red LeD following a self test must be returned to a factory
authorized service center.
Any PLB that was activated for more than one hour must have the battery pack
replaced at the earliest opportunity. The PLB may not meet its performance
requirements when the battery pack has been discharged for an hour or more.
Also, the battery pack should be replaced with 30 days prior to the expiration date.
PLB owners are not authorized to replace the battery pack. The battery pack is a
critical component and only factory trained personnel are authorized to remove and
replace the battery pack. only factory assembled and inspected battery packs are
authorized for use.
