Installation
Power Supply
The scale is powered by one of the
following power supplies:
– YPS05-ZD (non-hazardous area)
or
– YPS05-XD (hazardous area)
Note:
Observe all warnings and safety
precautions. Unplug the power cord
from the wall socket (mains) before
performing any work on the equip-
ment. Installation work that affects
the IP65 or IP68 protection rating
must be performed with extreme
care. Any installation work that does
not conform to the instructions in
this manual will result in forfeiture of
all claims under the manufacturer's
warranty.
DC Connection on the EC1XS.-……-L
§
To open the display and control
unit housing, remove the hexagonal
nuts (7 mm) and remove the screws.
§
Remove the protective cap from the
bore hole on the indicator.
Note:
Keep the seal and nut in a safe place.
§
Guide the cable with the pre-installed
cable gland through the bore hole.
§
Install cable gland on the housing in
accordance with industry standards.
§
Tighten the cable gland nut on the
inside of the housing. Use a torque
wrench and tighten the cable gland
to 3 Nm.

Check the torque at appropriate
intervals to avoid over-tightening.
§
Plug in the male connector on
the pin terminal.
§
Position the cover on the display
and control unit.
Check the fit of the seal between
cover and housing before closing
the display and control unit.
Replace any defective seals.
Use a torque wrench and tighten the
screws to 1.6 Nm.
§
Replace the hexagonal nuts (7 mm).
Connecting the Built-in
RS-232 Interface
§
Open the display and control unit
housing.
§
Remove the protective cap.
§
Connect the cable to pins 1 through
6 in accordance with industry
standards (see Drawing No. 65710-
740-52-A4, Sheet 2).
§
Install the cable gland in accordance
with industry standards.
§
Position the cover on the display and
control unit. Replace the hexagonal
nuts (7 mm).
Connecting the Optional
RS-422 Interface
§
Open the display and control unit
housing.
§
Remove the protective cap.
§
Install the RS-422 interface card as
shown in the illustration on the left.
§
Connect the cable from the interface
card to the main PCB (see illustration).
§
Install the cable gland in accordance
with industry standards.
§
Connect the cable to pins 1 through
10 in accordance with industry
standards (see Drawing No. 65710-
740-52-A4, Sheet 4).
§
Position the cover on the display
and control unit.
Replace the hexagonal nuts (7 mm).
Connecting the Optional Foot Switch
§
Open the display and control unit
housing.
§
Remove the protective cap.
§
Cut the round male connector off
of the model YPE05-S foot switch.
§
Remove the insulation from
a segment of the cable
§
Connect the cable gland (part no.
YAS04CIS) in accordance with
industry standards. Make sure the
shield has contact to the cable gland.
§
Connect the cable to the LV1
terminal strip on pins 5 and 6 in
accordance with industry standards.
Note:
Because the device is a simple switch,
transposing the wires will not affect
the function.

Install the cable gland in accordance
with industry standards.
§
Position the cover on the display and
control unit. Replace the hexagonal
nuts (7 mm).

Any sockets or ports on the display
and control unit to which no cable is
connected must be protected within
hazardous areas by affixing a cap
with the required IP protection rating.
