SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using your appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
•
Read all instructions carefully, even if you are familiar with the appliance.
•
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children or
infirm persons.
•
Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
•
Do not leave any appliance unattended while it is operating.
•
Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage indicated on the appliance
corresponds with the main voltage in your area.
•
Switch off and unplug from the outlet before cleaning or when not in use.
•
Always unplug by grasping the plug, never pull on the power cord.
•
Do not operate or place any part of this appliance on or near any hot surfaces (such as
gas or electric burner or in a heated oven).
•
Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. Do not let the cord touch
hot surfaces.
•
Avoid touching hot surfaces - use the handles and knobs.
•
Do not insert utensils into the toaster - doing so constitutes serious risk of electric
shock. If a slice of bread becomes stuck in the toaster, disconnect the power from the
mains outlet, turn the toaster upside and shake gently to remove.
•
Do not use the appliance near flammable materials such as curtains and other similar
materials; always allow sufficient ventilation and enough place to avoid fire hazard.
•
Do not move the appliance while it is operating.
•
To protect from electrical hazard, do not immerse this appliance, cord or plug in any
liquid.
•
The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may cause
injuries.
•
To protect against fire, do not operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable
fumes.
•
Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use. This appliance is for
household use only. Do not use outdoors.
•
Never operate the appliance directly next to or below a power outlet.
•
Always use the appliance on a flat, level and stable surface – never use an inclined
plane.
•
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service
agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
OPERATION
Before initial use, operate the toaster without bread. This will allow the oils used in
production to burn off. There may be a slight odor and some smoke, this is normal and is not a
fault.
•
Plug the toaster into a convenient and suitable power supply.
