4.OVERWRITING THE FIRMWARE
1. Overwriting the firmware
1-1. Preparing the CompactFlash card
Save the revised firmware onto the CompactFlash card.
1-2. Overwriting method
1. Connect a monitor to the MONITOR 1 output of the digital
video recorder.
2. Turn on the power of the digital video recorder and display
the POWER FAILURE/USED TIME sub-menu.
3. Press the SHUTTLE HOLD button for 5 seconds or more
to display the cursor on the screen.
4. Use the jog dial to move the cursor to the FIRMWARE
position.
5. Turn the shuttle dial clockwise to display the write screen.
6. Press the SHUTTLE HOLD button for 5 seconds or more
to display the current firmware settings on the screen.
7. Insert the CompactFlash card, use the jog dial to change
the selection from "NO" to "YES", and then turn the shuttle
dial clockwise to display the write screen again.
Firmware overwriting is carried out in the following
sequence: Main firmware overwriting -> Restart -> Sub
firmware overwriting -> Restart.
When overwriting is complete and the unit has restarted,
remove the CompactFlash card.
If the unit does not restart, disconnect the power plug, wait
several seconds and then re-insert the plug into the wall
outlet, or press the CLEAR switch at the rear of the unit to
restart it.
8. While pressing the MENU button at the front of the digital
video recorder, press the ALL RESET button at the rear to
turn it back on.
9. Display the POWER FAILURE/USED TIME sub-menu,
and check that the firmware version has been updated.
If overwriting cannot be carried out, use the RS-232C
method instead.
