External Storage
5.1.1.
2.5” SSD Drive Bay
The external 2.5” SSD drive bay uses the SATA interface (SATA III / SATA-600 compliant) for 512 GByte or 1 TByte
2.5” SSD memory expansion.
5.2.
Internal Expansion
It is possible to install a full-size/half-size mSATA or mPCIe expansion card in a shared socket, and an M.2
(2242/2262) expansion card. Due to space limitations, and a possible mechanical collision, not every expansion card
and M.2 card combination is possible.
The possible mSATA/mPCIe expansion cards and M.2 card combinations are:
mSATA/mPCIe full-size + M.2(2242)
mSATA/mPCIe half-size + M.2(2260)
mSATA/mPCIe half-size + M.2(2242)
5.2.1.
mSATA /mPCIe Shared Socket (option)
A shared mSATA (SATA III/ SATA-600 compliant) or mPCIe socket is available for (full-size/half-size) expansion
cards. When considering whether to install a full-size/half-size mSATA or mPCIe expansion card users must take into
consideration whether a M.2 (2242) or M.2 (2260) form factor card is installed in the neighboring M.2 socket. .
To configure the shared mSATA /mPCIe socket in the BIOS setup, perform the following:
1.
Use the BIOS hot key navigation system to go to the following setup menu function:
Advanced> Onboard device Configuration> Minicard mode>
2.
Select the required mode:
[mSATA/mPCIe/Auto]
For the possible mSATA/mPCIe and M.2 socket combinations, see Chapter 5.2: Internal Expansion.
5.2.2.
M.2 (option)
The M.2 socket supports M.2 (2242/2260) form factor cards for PCIe (2-lanes) or SATA based M.2 modules, AHCI /
NVME Boot support. When considering whether to install a M.2 card with (2242/2260) form factor users must take
into consideration whether a full-size or half-size mSATA/mPCIe expansion card is installed in the neighboring
shared mSATA/mPCIe socket.
For the possible mSATA/mPCIe and M.2 socket combinations, see Chapter 5.2: Internal Expansion.
