6. Highlight Yes to connect to the other device and press
the OK key.
7. The other device will ask to connect. Press the OK key.
“CONNECTING” appears in the display.
8. When the information is exchanged, a message will
appear that the transfer is complete.
CREATE AND SEND A PICTURE WITH A
MESSAGE USING YOUR CONTACT LIST
Use the built-in camera to take digital still pictures. Night Shot
lets you make the most of pictures in low light.
1. Press the Camera key on the right hand side of the phone
(this will work whether the phone is open or closed).
2. Aim the camera at the subject and press the OK key
for TAKE.
3. Press the OK key for SEND.
4. The screen will display PICTURE SAVED and then
PROCESSING.
5. In the NEW PICTURE MSG screen, press the right soft
key for Add to access your contact list, and press 1 for
From Contacts.
6. Enter the first letters of the name of the first contact that
you are sending the picture to. You can press the
Directional key up and down to highlight the desired
recipient. Press the OK key for MARK to select. For
additional recipients, press the Directional key up and
down to highlight the additional recipients. When all
recipients to receive the message are marked, press the
left soft key for Done.
7. By pressing the OK key, you will be moved to the
Text entry box. In the Text box, use the keypad to enter
the message that will be sent with your picture. Should
you wish to add a sound, a subject or a name card, press
the Directional key up and down to highlight the desired
field and use the keypad and options key to add additional
information. When the message is completed, you may
press the OK key to SEND your picture.
TIPS AND TRICKS
TIP: VIbRATE SHORTCUT
Your customers can simply
press and hold the # key to put the phone in the Vibrate mode
for incoming calls. When they want to go back to their normal
ringtone, they just press and hold # again.

The u430 has a Quick Text function with
15 prewritten text messages your customers can highlight and
send in a flash.
TIP: 911 CALLS
Your customers can make 911 calls, even
when the phone is in the “Lock” mode.

your customer can
even get help on how to use the VoiceCommand™ feature by
asking. After launching the feature, if they say, “Help,” the
pre-loaded tutorial will appear on the screen.
ACTIVATE bLUETOOTH
®
WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
The u430 supports Bluetooth
®
Wireless Technology for use with
a headset (mono), hands-free, serial port, object push (vCard
and vCalendar only) and phone book access.
1. From the Main Screen, press the OK key for Menu then
press the Directional key up or down to highlight Settings
& Tools (press the OK key if necessary). Press 3 to select
Bluetooth
®
Menu. (Note: Bluetooth
®
is not enabled on a
new handset. Press the left soft key to turn Bluetooth
®
on.

2. Press 1 to Add New Device. The u430 will ask you to
“PLACE THE DEVICE YOU ARE CONNECTING TO IN
DISCOVERABLE MODE”. Place the device that you want
to pair with in Discovery Mode (follow the instructions for
that device).
3. Press the OK key on the u430. Your u430 will search for
another Bluetooth device. When the other device is
located, the name of the device will appear in the ADD
NEW DEVICE screen. (There may be multiple choices
based on other Bluetooth enabled devices in the vicinity
of your u430.)
4. Press the Directional key up or down to highlight that
device and press the OK key to PAIR the devices.
5. The u430 supports easy pairing (Auto Pairing) where the
phone will automatically pair to a Bluetooth
®
device if
the PIN key is 4 zeros (0000). If the PIN key is not 4 zeros,
the phone will require the user to enter correct PIN key to
complete pairing.
6. You will see a confirmation that the u430 is paired with the
other device. These two devices will then be able to
wirelessly connect for functions that the u430 supports.
SENDING CONTACT INFORMATION
(VCARD) TO ANOTHER bLUETOOTH
®
ENAbLED PHONE
You can send individual contacts or your entire contact list
to or from another device that is Bluetooth enabled.
1. From the Main Screen, press the right soft key
for Contacts.
2. Use the Directional key to highlight a contact and press
the right soft key for Options.
3. Press 9 for Send Name Card, and press 3 for Bluetooth.
4. The contact should have a check mark to the left of the
name. Press the left soft key for Done. To select additional
contacts, press the OK key to MARK the contacts, and
then press the left soft key for Done. To select all
contacts, press the right soft key for Mark All, then press
the left soft key for Done.
5. Highlight the destination device and press the OK key.
