Plug & Play O/S: Enables you to set the parameters for peripheral
ports. Set this field to No if your computer uses an operating system
that is not plug and play compliant, such as Windows NT. With an
operating system that is not plug and play compliant, you manually
change the settings for the COM1, COM2, and LPT ports. The BIOS
will recognize the new settings. Windows 98 automatically configures
the ports regardless of the setting of this field.
PS/2 Mouse Config: Enables or disables the touchpad mouse or
keyboard port. Options are External (default), Dual Mouse and
Disabled. If you set this field to External, the touchpad mouse is
disabled when an external mouse is attached.If you set this field to
Disabled a device attached to the port will not function, but you will
free up an IRQ (interrupt request line) for use by another device. If you
set this field to Dual Mouse, the touchpad mouse is enabled when an
external mouse is attached.
USB device: Configures the USB controller. The options for this field
are Enabled (default) and Disabled. When the USB device field is set
to Enabled, the computer’s operating system uses the default
configuration for the controller. If you select Disabled, you free up an
IRQ for use by another device.
Screen Expansion: Enables the expansion of the screen during boot.
When your computer starts, the screens are in 640x480 resolution
during boot and then automatically change to the resolution you have
specified in the Windows settings. When this field is enabled, the
opening screens are expanded beyond 640x480. The default is
Enabled.
Display Control: Enable you to set the default display. Options are
LCD, CRT and Both. Choose LCD to use the built-in display only, CRT
to use an external monitor only or BOTH to have both built-in and
external displays used as the dafault display. If you select CRT and no
external monitor is attached you will see no display until you attach the
external monitor. The default is Both.
I/O Device Configuration: Opens the I/O Device Configuration
submenu if you press <Enter> when this field is highlighted. If you
attempt to set two ports to the same settings, the fields will be marked
with asterisks.
