Malfunction

Possible reasons

Recommended action

Upstream pressure

exceeds the adjusted

set point.

Insufficient pressure pulses on the

operating diaphragm.

Connect the control line on site for regulators

with external control line.

Clean the control line and screw fittings.

Pressure tapped at the wrong place

(regulator with external control line).

Reconnect the control line at another point.

Do not connect the control line at pipe bends or

necks.

Regulator installed against the flow.

Install the regulator so that the direction of flow

matches the direction indicated by the arrow on

the body.

Regulator or K

coefficient too

small

Check the sizing.

Change K

coefficient, if necessary or in

stall a different sized regulator.

Contact SAMSON's After-sales Service depart-

ment.

Foreign particles blocking the plug

Remove foreign particles.

Replace damaged parts.

Contact SAMSON's After-sales Service depart-

ment.

Compensation chamber in the wrong

position or too small (with steam).

Reconnect compensation chamber at a different

place or replace it (see section 7.7).

Defective operating diaphragm

Replace damaged diaphragm.

Pressure drops below

the adjusted set point.

Foreign particles blocking the plug

Remove foreign particles.

Replace damaged parts.

Contact SAMSON's After-sales Service depart-

ment.

Seat and plug are worn or leak.

Replace the damaged seat and plug.

Contact SAMSON's After-sales Service depart-

ment.

Pressure tapped at the wrong place

(regulator with external control line).

Reconnect the control line at another point.

Do not connect the control line at pipe bends or

necks.

Regulator or K

coefficient too

large

Check the sizing.

Change K

coefficient, if necessary or

install a different sized regulator.
