19. Proceed with fine-tuning the antenna alignment (see next page).
Antenna alignment fine-tuning
1. On Spectrum Compact tap TRACE MODE, then MAXHOLD. Tap HOME.
! Only adjust one side of the link at a time.
2. Start with the horizontal adjustments.
3. Begin on Spectrum Compact site.
4. Loosen up the antenna to do the adjustments.
5. By slowly turning the antenna, sweep all the way through.
In addition to a prominent main lobe, antenna radiation patterns also have
smaller side lobes. The most common mistake during alignment is aligning to
a side lobe. Thus, it is important to sweep all the way through before fixing the
antenna position.
6. Now sweep the range once more, while simultaneously comparing the
two traces shown on the screen of Spectrum Compact.
7. Fix the position on the Spectrum Compact site when the NORMAL trace
more or less matches the blue MAXHOLD trace i.e. when the currently
received signal level is the highest possible.
8. Contact the transmitter site.
Do the steps 4. - 7. on the transmitter site.
When the horizontal fine alignment is completed, align the antennas vertically
in the same manner.
9. Tap TRACE MODE, then either AVERAGE 2 or AVERAGE 4. Tap HOME.
