1. Turn off ignition switch and remove key. If equipped with keyless fob,
remove fob from proximity of vehicle.
2. Ensure motorcycle is parked on a flat surface, kickstand is fully extend-
ed, and vehicle is stable prior to installation.
3. Remove driver seat from your bike by pulling up the front, releasing the
seat base grommet from the frame stud. Slide the seat forward, pulling the
seat tabs away from the rear fender.
4. Take off the rear fender strut covers (A), one on each side, by removing
two fasteners per side (B). Carefully hang strut cover assemblies to the
side. Loosely reinstall the four fasteners - without the strut cover - to hold
the fender in place during the seat installation. Use caution to prevent
damage to the fender, lights or wiring.
5. The new seat has a bracket designed to fasten to the rear frame mount-
ing point (C), which is located under the strut covers. Lower the new seat
over top of the fender and align the seat bracket holes with the rear frame
mounting holes (C), and start the two M8 x 1.25 bolts (supplied with your
new seat) by hand. When both bolts are in place, torque them to specifica-
tion, 18 ft-lbs. (24 Nm).
6. At the front of the seat, align the motorcycle's frame stud with the rub-
ber capture grommet in the base of the seat, and push in to secure. Make
sure the grommet is fully engaged to the stud before operating the bike. If
the seat is not aligned in a straight-ahead position, the grommet will not
engage to the stud.
7. Remove rubber blanks (D) from each strut cover.
8. Ensure the rear light wiring is properly secured in strut covers, and rein-
stall the strut cover and rear fender mounting screws, getting them all in
place by hand first. Confirm rear light wiring is correctly positioned to avoid
pinching, and then torque the screws to specification, 84 in- lbs. (9.5 Nm).
It is your responsibility to make sure the seat installation does not create an unsafe or illegal situation. Remember that this seat is a custom
accessory. It is your responsibility to check the installation to determine if it will be safe for you to operate the motorcycle and to properly
and safely carry a passenger (this includes reinstalling the passenger grab strap or installing a suitable replacement). You must also ensure
that the installation does not damage your vehicle in any way.
After 50 miles (80 kilometers), recheck the fender strut covers, and the seat’s mounting to make sure everything is secure. Inspect all of
your accessories and related hardware before and during each ride. An improperly mounted seat can interfere with the vehicle’s operation
and cause an unsafe riding condition.
CARE OF YOUR SADDLEMEN SEAT: Your seat requires almost no maintenance, other than periodic cleaning with mild soap and water.
