GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Electrically powered cover pumps normally gives many
years of trouble-free service when correctly installed,
maintained, and used. However, unusual circumstances
(interruption of power to the pump, dirt/debris in the
pump, flooding that exceeds the pump's capacity, electrical
or mechanical failure in the pump, etc.) may prevent your
pump from functioning normally. See the 'Troubleshooting
Chart' in this manual for information about common cover
pumps problems and remedies.
Know the pump application, limitations, and potential
hazards
1.
Do not use in water with fish present. If any oil leaks
out of the motor it can kill fish.
2.
Disconnect power before servicing.
3.
Release all pressure within system before servicing any
component.
4.
Drain all water from system before servicing.
5.
Secure discharge line before starting pump. An
unsecured discharge line will whip, possibly causing
personal injury and/or property damage.
6.
Check hoses for weak or worn condition before each
use, making certain that all connections are secure.
7.
Periodically inspect product and system components.
Keep free of debris and foreign objects. Perform
routine maintenance as required.
8.
Personal Safety:
a.
Wear Safety glasses at all times when working
with pumps.
b.
Keep work area clean, uncluttered and properly
lighted – replace all unused tools and equipment.
c.
Keep visitors at a safe distance from work area.
d.
Make workshop child-proof – with padlocks,
master switches, and by removing started keys.
9.
When wiring an electrically driven pump, follow all
electrical and safety codes that apply in your
state/county.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
WARNING
To reduce risk of electric shock, pull plug
before servicing, Pump is supplied with a grounding
conductor and grounding-type attachment plug. Be sure it
is connected only to a properly grounded grounding-type
receptacle.
WARNING
Where a 2-prong wall receptacle is
encountered, it must be replaced with properly grounded
3-prong receptacle installed in accordance with state / local
codes and ordinances.
WARNING
Protect electrical cord from sharp objects,
hot surfaces, oil and chemicals. Avoid kinking cord.
Replace or repair damaged or worn cords immediately
WARNING
Do not touch an operating motor. Modern
motors can operate at high temperatures.
WARNING
Do not handle pump or pump motor with
wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surface, or in
water
WARNING
Do not lift pump by power cord.
WARNING
Do not bury cord. Locate cord to minimize
damage from lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other
equipment.
WARNING
Never pump corrosive liquids with this
pump, this could damage the integrity of the enclosure and
cause an electrical short. This pump has been evaluated
for use with water only.
WARNING
Do not run this pump dry. Running this
pump without water may damage the integrity of the
enclosures and cause electrical short.
WARNING
Icy conditions can cause unnecessary wear
on pump. When these conditions exist cease operation of
pump and remove the pump from the pool cover.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATION WARNINGS
.
WARNING
Risk of electrical shock. Do not handle a
pump or pump motor with wet hands or when standing on
wed or damp surface, or in water
To reduce the risk of electric shock, replace damaged cord
immediately. Contact the manufacture for replacement of
the power cord. .
WARNING
If service is required, proceed carefully. The
pump and surrounding areas may be covered with water.
Never plug or unplug the device while standing in wet or
damp surfaces. If necessary, remove power at the breaker
panel or have certified electrician remove power before
attempting to service. Serious or fatal shocks could result if
proper procedures are not followed. Disconnect the power
at the main electrical service box by switching the
appropriate circuit breaker or removing the fuse. In
applications where screw type fuses are used, remove only
the one hand while other hand or torso is free from contact
with anything. Do not stand in water or do not touch any
other conductive surfaces. .
WARNING
Verify that the electrical outlet to be used
meets the requirements of the National Electrical Code
(NEC) as well as local electrical codes including grounding
and GFCI protection. Also verify that the outlet is properly
sized and located for this pump. Your installation may
require a certified electrician or plumber. .
WARNING
If necessary, check your plumbing codes to
verify that the final installation will be in compliance with
their requirements.
TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
.
OPERATION Information
1.
Shaft seal depends on water for lubrication. Do not
operate pump unless it is submerged in water as seal
may be damaged if allowed to run dry.
2.
Motor is equipped with automatic reset thermal
protector. If temperature in motor should rise unduly,
switch will cut off all power before damage can be done
to motor. When motor has cooled sufficiently, switch
will reset automatically and restart motor. If protector
trips repeatedly, pump should be removed and checked
as to cause of difficulty. Low voltage, long extension
cords, clogged impeller, very low head or lift, or a
plugged or frozen discharge pipe, etc., could cause
cycling.
Follow these instructions to begin using your submersible
pump:
1.
Locate an area for the end of the garden or backwash
hose that unwanted water should be discharged to.
Note: Check state / local codes for discharge of water
2.
Locate a desirable flat area for your pump. Always use
carrying handle to transport pump.
3.
Attach garden or discharge hose to multi-connection
adapter
4.
Plug cord into an approved electrical outlet and begin
operation.
