Working from within the structure you have 
assembled, locate the markings on the upper edge of 
the runner batten and lift one of the notched rafters 
into place so that the rafter sits within the markings 
at both ends before fixing it into place with a 120mm 
coach screw in each end. 

 

Continue adding the remaining rafters...

The Box Pergola construction is now complete. It can 
remain freestanding or for more security the legs can 
be sunk into the ground and concreted in place.
