Q. How do I reset the Urn once the boil dry protection has kicked in?
Unplug the appliance from the wall and let it cool down naturally.
Empty the Urn.
Press the reset button located on the underside of the urn.
Return the urn to its normal position, add water until visible on the water gaurge and plug it
in.
Switch the unit on to check the “HEATING” light illuminates, this means it has returned to
normal working order.
Switch off after testing or fill further.
Q. I have tried to reset the boil dry protection but the unit won’t come back on?
Make sure you have waited until the unit has cooled completely.
Try pressing the reset button a few more times.
If this doesn’t work, call customer service.
Q. What is thermal cut out?
Thermal cut out kicks in if the boil dry protection has failed to work.
It is an added safety feature that ensures the unit will not keep heating when there is no
water in the unit.
When the thermal cut out kicks in, the unit will stop but the light will stay on.
When the thermal cut out has activated, it will break and the part will no longer work.
In the event of this situation, please contact customer service to arrange a replacement of
the part.
Q. Why has the inside of my Urn discoloured/rusted?
Limescale may be white, coloured, even rusty-looking, but it’s normally visible.
Phosphate scale isn’t generally visible, but it’s there, even in soft water areas.
When water is heated, the minerals solidify. This makes the water appear cloudy. It may
form a film on the surface of the water or on the walls and floor of the Urn. It may look like
thin pieces of plastic in the water.
All scale causes overheating, reduces the Urn’s life, and may trigger the boil-dry cut-out.
Even in soft water areas descale regularly, to help keep your urn in working order longer.
It can be removed by the following steps:
a) Cut a lemon into four, wrap the lemon in cloth and place in the water tank.
b) Fill with water up to the "MAX" water level indicator.
c) Turn the Urn on and leave it for approximately 1 hour.
d) Pour out the water and use a nylon brush to scrub the water tank.
e) To remove the smell of the lemon, boil water again, and dispose the water.
f ) You can substitute the lemon with 2 tsp Critic Acid or a commercial de-scale solution.
Products returned under guarantee with faults due to scale will be subject to a repair
charge.
Q. How often should I descale my urn?
Depending on frequency of use, your urn should be descaled at least once a month or
whenever a buildup of scale can be seen inside the urn.
